Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign Reaches Students at FGGC Jalingo
At FGGC Jalingo, the school day carried a different kind of energy as students gathered for an awareness campaign focused on human trafficking. It was not part of the usual classroom routine, but it quickly became one of those sessions that held attention in a quiet, serious way.
The message was direct. Trafficking is real, and it often begins with offers that look harmless.
Facilitators spoke to the students in clear terms, breaking down how false promises can appear convincing. Job offers, travel opportunities, and help from unfamiliar contacts were all discussed as common entry points used to deceive young people.
For many of the students, the discussion made something distant feel closer and more personal.
Questions came slowly at first, then more freely. How do you know when an opportunity is fake? Who should you trust? What should you do when something feels suspicious?
The answers focused on caution, verification, and the importance of speaking up early rather than waiting until it is too late.
Teachers also reinforced the message, encouraging students to see awareness as protection, not fear. The goal was not to create panic, but to help them recognize risk before it becomes reality.
By the end of the session, the atmosphere in the room had shifted. What started as a presentation ended as a conversation students were still continuing among themselves as they left the hall.
